Tech 5 has been engaged to help them find their next (ideally experienced) Yard/Retail Customer Service person to grow their positive, high-performing team. If you are at the start of your career but have the personality and drive to seize this opportunity, we still want to hear from you.
What the job involves
- You will be the first face customers see when they arrive to pick up materials – spending 4 days a week in the yard and 1 day a week in the retail showroom for variety.
- You will deliver excellent customer service and support the sales team in meeting their targets with your friendly, helpful approach.
- Outside the busy periods, you will help with stock handling, merchandising, and storage, using the available technology and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Ideally, you can already operate a forklift in a confined environment with larger loads, but full training can be provided for the right person.
- For the right candidate, there is scope to get involved in other areas such as procurement, so be sure to highlight any relevant experience in your application.
- You will be part of a Saturday morning roster every second week, working 8:00 am–12:00 pm.
- You have prior customer service experience with a genuine smile, ideally in the building supply industry, although applicants from other industries are welcome.
- You enjoy working with others, pitching in where needed, and you are not afraid to crack a joke and keep things positive.
- You bring a proactive work ethic, a positive mindset, and you are a natural people person.
- Product knowledge across timber, building materials and/or tools will help you hit the ground running, but a supportive team will help you get up to speed.
- You are comfortable with basic computer use, reading and writing, and you have a strong eye for detail to support the inventory and stock control aspects of the role.
- Existing forklift experience, along with an F endorsement and OSH forklift certificate, will be highly regarded but are not essential.
- You have a reasonable level of physical fitness to manage tasks such as loading timber onto trailers – you will not need to be a weightlifter, but you may not need that gym membership anymore.
