About the Opportunity
Tech 5 Recruitment is partnering with a well-established construction and roofing contractor that has been delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across the North Island for over 40 years.
Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking skilled and experienced Carpenters to join their Palmerston North team on a long-term, full-time basis.
The Role
This is a hands-on role suited to trade-qualified or highly experienced carpenters with experience across construction, exterior building works, and roofing-related projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- General carpentry and construction work
- Installation of timber and steel framing components
- Exterior cladding and finishing work
- Installation and repair of roofing systems, including long-run metal roofing
- Flashing installation (head, apron, ridge, barge, and related flashings)
- Minor roof-related works including fascia, spouting, and downpipes
- Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
- Accurate measuring, marking, and cutting of materials
- Maintaining high-quality workmanship standards
- Following all site health and safety requirements
- Working independently or as part of a construction crew
- Minimum 2 years' experience in carpentry, construction, or roofing-related work
- Experience working on residential and/or commercial construction projects
- Experience with roofing installations or exterior building works is highly desirable
- Ability to read and interpret plans
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Physically fit and capable of working at heights when required
- Site Safe, Working at Heights, or EWP tickets are advantageous
- Reliable, motivated, and safety-conscious
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
- $30.00–$35.00 per hour, depending on experience
