A well-established commercial main contractor is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to join its Christchurch operation. This role is suited to an experienced New Zealand–trained PM who has successfully delivered complex commercial projects and is comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy.
With a strong, secured pipeline of local work, this is a long-term opportunity for a proven performer who understands the NZ construction environment and can lead projects with confidence from start to finish.
The Role
As Senior Commercial Project Manager, you will take full ownership of the delivery of medium-to-large commercial projects across Christchurch. You will lead project teams, manage consultants and subcontractors, and maintain tight control over programme, cost, risk, and quality.
You will work closely with senior leadership and commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to a high standard, while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end management of commercial construction projects
- Leadership of Site Managers, QSs, and project teams
- Programme development, procurement strategy, and sequencing
- Commercial performance, forecasting, and risk management
- Client, consultant, and stakeholder engagement
- Ensuring compliance with NZ building standards, H&S, and quality systems
- Extensive experience as a Project Manager within the New Zealand commercial construction market
- Strong main contractor background delivering commercial buildings
- Demonstrated ability to run projects autonomously
- In-depth understanding of NZ contracts, construction methodology, and local supply chains
- Calm, decisive leader with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
