A well-regarded New Zealand main contractor is seeking an experienced Project Director to take the lead on a major multi-million dollar commercial development in Auckland. With groundworks scheduled to commence next quarter, this role will provide strategic oversight and leadership from final pre-construction stages through full project delivery.
This is a senior appointment requiring proven experience delivering projects in the $50m–$100m range within the New Zealand main contractor market.
About the Role
As Project Director, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of a large-scale commercial project from early works through to completion. You will lead the project team across commercial, programme, design management, and site delivery functions, ensuring strong governance, risk management, and financial performance.
Key responsibilities include
- Overall leadership and accountability for a $50m–$100m commercial project
- Driving programme, commercial, and contractual performance
- Leading pre-construction planning prior to groundworks commencing next quarter
- Managing senior client and consultant relationships
- Overseeing project controls, reporting, and risk mitigation
- Providing leadership and direction to Project Managers and site teams
- Ensuring delivery aligns with company standards, safety, and quality expectations
What You’ll Bring

- Demonstrated delivery of commercial construction projects in the $50m–$100m range
