A well-established New Zealand main contractor with a strong forward workload across commercial builds is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in either Auckland or Christchurch.
This role requires an immediate start, supporting busy, live, multi-million dollar commercial construction projects in New Zealand. New Zealand main contractor experience is essential.
About the Role
As Health & Safety Advisor, you will provide hands-on support across active projects, ensuring compliance with New Zealand legislation while driving a proactive safety culture in high-pressure environments. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and subcontractors to maintain strong safety systems across large-scale commercial builds.
Key responsibilities include
- Providing practical health and safety leadership across live construction projects
- Conducting audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
- Supporting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Ensuring compliance with NZ health & safety legislation and company systems
- Managing project documentation, inductions, and subcontractor engagement
- Maintaining high safety standards across busy, fast-paced project environments
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within the New Zealand construction market
- Essential: Experience working for a New Zealand main contractor on commercial projects
- Experience operating on live, multi-million dollar builds
- Strong working knowledge of NZ health & safety legislation
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively across project teams
- Relevant NZ-recognised health & safety qualification
