December update from Brett Bothma. Brett is training to compete in an Ironman competition to raise money for Cure Kids.
I am 3 days away from my first triathlon! We have arrived in beautiful Taupo to do final preparations for the Taupo Half Ironman. It’s been a long road to get here with a lot of ups and downs. Injuries have played their part too and the last three weeks I have been unable to swim due to a perforated ear drum. What that means is I have not swam in open water yet! Good timing to be in Taupo then!
Those of you with small kids know the difficulty in traveling with multiple bags, add car seats and a bike bag and you have 7 checked in bags.
I would like to thank all of you who have donated to Cure Kids it’s much appreciated. I have a bit more of fundraising to do to hit my mark so if you have a few spare dollars please follow the link, every little counts.
Thank you Jolandie and kids for putting up with me the past 9 months, only 3 more till the big dance so hang in there please. Ben, John and the Tech 5 staff thanks for listening to the boring ironman chat as I said above only 12 weeks to go till it’s over 🙂
I’ll send out an update after the race!
For your info an Ironman is a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42.2km run all in one day!
